Espresso and Matcha's Foodie Odyessy - Melbourne Day 5 Lunch : Gold Leaf

Day 5 began with a large family lunch with my Confidante and his relatives. Being traditional Chinese, they took us to a long established, old school type restaurant called Gold Leaf in Preston, for Yum Cha.

Gold Leaf is situated upstairs in the shopping complex. Walking in, it felt like I had stepped into a 90s Yumcha joint in Hong Kong.

As it was a family yumcha, I thought it best not delay other peoples' meals by taking photos.

So I ended up with only one photograph of the food. The dishes were quite standard fare, and comparable to Landmark or Parkland from Brisbane. I enjoyed the steamed rice noodle rolls with barbecue pork, even though the noodles could have been thinner, it was still freshly steamed and the fillings were ample. The Xiao Long Bao though, had a very thick skin and lacked in juices. The fried white bait was crispy and freshly fried. Overall an enjoyable experience, and reminded me quite a bit of home.

Price Range: $15 - $35 pp
