Espresso and Matcha's Foodie Odyessy - Melbourne Day 8 Lunch (Part 2) : Cafe Andiamo

After a rather earlier lunch, my companion decided that he ought to fit in a second lunch, especially due to his unfulfilled love of Italian food, which had been sadly neglected during our trip. As such, he jumped at the first opportunity we saw, which was Cafe Andiamo, situated along Degraves Street, which was a place highly recommended by burger connoisseur.

We came at around 2pm, and were given a table inside the restaurant, which still allowed us generous views of the laneway.

Despite the fact that it took quite a long time to get the attention of the wait staff (which happened throughout the whole meal), once we did, we ordered our drinks and meal to share. As usual, I had a cappuccino and my companion had an English Breakfast. Both of which seemed pretty standard fare, but my cappuccino had a particularly rich foam to it, which I enjoyed quite a bit.

As this was our second lunch, we only ordered one pasta to share. This was the Matriciana, which contained Onions, Bacon, Capsicums, Olives, Garlic and Chilli with Pomodoro Sauce. The pasta was soft but very wholesome. We noted the cheese was not overly rich as is the custom of some establishments, In that way my companion could enjoy the freshness of the ingredients. The sauce was light and for some people may not enjoy it as much, but for my companion it was a welcome change from the often overpowering that happens with strong sauces. Combined together my companion enjoyed the Matriciana and felt it was a fitting second lunch.
