Was still hungry after our Korean dinner the other night and decided it would be a great opportunity to go across the road and check out the fairly newly opened Gelato Messina on James Street. Always one to get dessert, Adam was keen, so we headed over.
He was even more happy when he realised that two of the four weekly specials were peanut butter based gelatos.
Being a big fan of their South Brisbane store, I always like to pop in and check out the gelato displays, I was therefore a little surprised at the setup in this store, where the gelato containers weren't really visible and had to instead rely on the signboard up top.
In the end, we both settled for a double scoop in a cup each. He had both weekly specials of True Romance and PBJ, trying some myself, I enjoyed the sweet fruitiness of PBJ more than True Romance, however in both flavours the peanut butter was a bit light, tasting more like powdered peanut butter rather than fresh. I had the strawberries and cream along with tiramisu. Strawberries were sweet and fresh, but I loved the tiramisu with its crumbly espresso infused sponge mixed throughout the gelato.
