Electric Avenue - Woolloongabba

Had a catch up with some girlfriends last Friday evening after work. Decided not to go too far but instead we wandered over to the Gabba for dinner at Electric Avenue, along the little restaurant precinct at the start of Logan Road.

With how busy hospitality has been lately, we had to book well in advance to secure a table for four for the evening. I really liked the setup inside and the relaxed vibes.

The menu was quite vast in its variety, covering a selection of bar snacks, pizzas, mains and sides. There was also a small selection of drinks. Given how busy it was, it was not easy to get the attention of waitstaff.

Once we did get the attention of staff though, our drinks came very quickly. I had the clockwork orange and she had the pina colada. These were freshly made but leaned towards the sweet side.

We had two pizzas to share. This was the Shroom Pizza with mushrooms, truffle, mozarella, artichoke, tomato and rocket. Compared to other mushroom pizzas I've had, this was interesting in the sense that it had a tomato base and had dried tomatos on top as well, which really overpowered the flavours of mushroom and truffle. Although the name was focused on the mushroom elements, it would probably be better described as a vegie pizza instead. The base was also quite thick but not as fluffy as I would have liked.

Our other pizza was the Meatlovers with salami, bacon, jalapeno mozarella and chipotle. With a fairly thick base ans strong hard hitting flavours, it was definitely an intense pizza. There was a lot of sauce but in terms of meat, it was a little bit lacking, again the base was a little firm though.

Another main we shared was the roast dinner. Trying bits of everything, the roast beef was tender but needed more gravy, to which there wasn't much at the bottom of the plate. The roast potatoes were super crispy and a definite highlight and the roast veggies were a bit bland.

We also ordered a side of chips to share. There's not too much to say other than the portions were generous, they were freshly fried, lightly salted and I liked the side of aioli. I really enjoyed it and this was probably the highlight of our meal.
