Yozo - Kelvin Grove

Earlier in the year, an independent froyo store opened in Kelvin Grove with a flurry of giveaways as part of their opening promotions. I was lucky enough to score a win and so made the trek up north to try it out.

I really liked the calm minimalistic vibe. There were just over half a dozen seats and luckily for us it wasn't overly full when we went.

The best way I can describe the experience at Yozo is that it is more or less like a malatang. They have a selection of froyo for you to choose from, including chocolate, tart, coconut, taro and currently matcha and acai. You can get as much as you want with their cups or bowls.

Toppings include a lot of delicious sauces and nuts...

mousses and fruits...

and popping pearls.

After you're done, it is weighed up at a price of $4.00 per 100g.

Needless to say, we went all out.

Having come a couple of times now (using my giveaway winnings and also as a paid customer), I would definitely say that Yozo is my preferred froyo store. The froyo is sweet but not too sweet. I particularly enjoy their matcha froyo which was earthy and not too bitter. Of their toppings, I consider the mousse the most captivating, with strawberry, matcha and pistachio on offer. I probably get as much mousse as I get froyo whenever I visit. I also particularly enjoy their lychee and strawberry, keeping my bowl fresh and fruity as well as the chocolate fountain and sprinkles. Having come here with friends, they agreed that it offers a more natural alternative compared to the locally dominant Yochi.

Also worth mentioning, there is an arcade machine out back for those who enjoy a game with their froyo ;).
