For those unaware, Adam has a burger addiction (further to his dessert addiction). A week without a fix and he goes into withdrawal. For some time now, he has mentioned how much he enjoys the food at Jee's Burger, opened by the same owner of Jumak, which we really enjoyed. Open near the student one accommodation up on Adelaide Street, we knew it would be great value for money. Arriving at lunchtime on a work day, it was packed. The line was quite long and all the tables were taken with a considerable number of patrons opting for take away.
The signboard behind the counter served as the menu. With a variety of beef and chicken burgers, the reference to small, medium and large corresponds with the number of patties on the burgers. Other than this, chicken only variations as well as sides and milkshakes. This was basically his heaven on earth.
Ordering an assortment of food at the counter, it took a good 15 mins for our food to be prepared, however this worked to our advantage as we had managed to source a table in the time it took for the food to be prepared.
He had the peanut butter milkshake and I the Hershey's chocolate. Rich and creamy in texture, I found it to be light in taste. I would definitely have enjoyed it more if there was a bit more flavouring to it and a bit less sugar.
Between the two of us, we shared both a chicken and beef burger so we had the best of both worlds.
First up we had the cheese and bacon beef burger, regular sized with two patties. Despite his strong recommendation, I really found the bun to be a little dry and coarser than I would like. The burger patty was crumbly, fresh and really meaty. Bacon was deliciously crisp, but the cheese definitely could have been more melted, but the lettuce was undeniably crispy
Our other burger was the original fried chicken burger, again regular with two patties. My feedback for the bun was as above. Chicken was moist and crisp with a relatively thicker batter than I would have liked. Coleslaw was fresh and crunchy though, but there was a little too much sauce which resulted in it leaking out of the burger even as photos were being taken.
To share, we also had a serve of small chips. Freshly fried, crispy but a little on the salty side, they were quite satisfying, but we could probably have eaten more if they were less salted.
