Espresso & Matcha's Saporous Expedition - Perth: Bib & Tucker

As an East Coast girl, there is no way that I would go to Perth and pass up the opportunity to appreciate the West Coast sunset. Finishing up on our errands for the day, we drove over to Freemantle beach to walk around a bit and have dinner at the beach-side restaurant, Bib and Tucker.

Making a reservation just before the scheduled sunset time, we were able to grab a drink earlier and appreciate the views before our cosy diner. Iron Fist, as usual, had his red wine, and I had my lemon lime bitters. The views at Freemantle beach were truly spectacular.

Headed back inside after the sunset (as you know I'm not a fan of outdoor seating). Perhaps we were early, but the restaurant wasn't particularly busy at that time of the day.

Menus were provided, and they covered quite a large variety of options. Service was prompt and efficient, and we put our orders through quite quickly.

Our food came reasonably promptly afterwards.

Iron Fist ordered a piece of lamb rump which came with veges and mash. It was cooked quite thoroughly and well done, though I think we would have preferred it a little more pink. It was tender in the sense that it broke apart easily enough, however it was still dry and tough in texture, and even the mash and sauce wasn't enough to remedy this.

I had some shredded duck ragu with fettucini. It was topped with a considerable amount of cabbage and an oil dressing. Whilst the duck was quite well seasoned and the pasta was ample and tender, I couldn't help but feel that the dish was a little too oily for my taste. Finishing it, I could see the small pool of oil that retained at the bottom.

In terms of sides, we ordered a green leaf salad, which was fresh and crispy, with also a light vinegarette, but considering the price and how much space salad takes, it was a little smaller than we would have preferred, and would have done well to have a bit of onions or tomatoes.

Our second side to share was the bucket of chips. This was fried well and skin on to give it a bit more crunch. Compared to the salad, the portion size was quite ample, and the both of us really enjoyed it.
