Woka Woka - Fortitude Valley

Quiet mid week dinner whilst we were running some life admin errands. This time we happened to be in the valley so we took the opportunity to try out Woka Woka's newest branch along Wickham Street. For those who have followed my blog for a number of years, between the Woka Woka chain and Cha Kee, I think they provide the best representation of authentic Hong Kong food in Brisbane, so I was quite pleased to have the chance to satisfy my comfort food cravings.

As expected, the menu was diverse, with more chinese style rice and noodle dishes along with westernised steak and pasta dishes. Drinks and TVs were available to help us wash down the meal, it was just like Hong Kong again.

Drinks we had included the HK Milk Tea and the HK Coffee Milk Tea. For an extra 50 cents we got the larger size. Although very milky and quite sweet, it was exceptionally potent and it definitely ruined what little sleep I had that night.

Having craved their congee for some time now, I made a point to order the Chicken, Abalone and Shark Fin Soup congee. Consistent with their other branches, the texture was on point, striking the perfect balance of smoothness with enough tender rice grains. The base chicken broth was extremely comforting and there was a generous amount of abalone, faux shark fin and chicken pieces. I absolutely love this congee.

Also ordering a set meal, it came with some chicken and peanut soup. This was deep and flavoursome.

Set meal of the day was pork cutlet with gravy and rice. We had it switched over to spaghetti. Although the pork cutlets weren't big in size, at leats there were two. Freshly fried with a not too thick crumb on the outside, the parts which didn't have sauce on it were very crispy. The spaghetti alone was a bit bland but with the additional gravy, it was fairly tasty.

Also sharing a side of Taiwanese Fried Chicken, this was a bit expensive for the price, but the chicken pieces were crisp and moist on the inside. I really liked the salt and peppery taste that it had. Definitely something to order again.
