One of the reasons why I enjoy being the social organiser at work is that it allows me more opportunity to venture out and try new restaurants, but on the downside, when a large number of people are attending the venues we attend must have a broad variety of food to accommodate colleagues of all tastes and preferences. With these conditions in mind, last week we tried Groove Train, which is situated along the riverfront near Eagle Street.
Having made a reservation beforehand, we were promptly given a table.
As alluded to, the menu was quite broad, offering a vast range of pizzas, pastas, steaks, sandwiches and other mains.
My colleague (who appears to only order pizza), ordered the meat lovers pizza. It was sufficiently large for a single person's serve, but the base was quite thick and doughy, and they could have been a bit more generous with the toppings. Otherwise it was comforting and flavoursome.
Opting for a lighter lunch that day, I grabbed the chicken foccacia. Whilst the pizza could have had more toppings, Groove Train was far more generous with the fillings in this sandwich. The salad was flavoursome, and I enjoyed the combination of bacon and avocado. However the sandwich could definitely have been more enjoyable if toasted.
