Pappa Roti - Sunnybank

Late night cravings always hit strong and fast. This is all the more so when Tomcat is around to fan the flames of my hunger. One of my more common cravings is the delectably fragrant coffee buns at Pappa Roti, so after considerable tempting from Tomcat, I decided we just had to scratch that itch once and for all, so we headed off to Market Square after dinner one day.

Despite the ongoing construction in the area, the store remained open and there were still a few people around despite the late hour.

The specialities were of course buns, but variations were available via toppings and sauces.

Being a larger sit down store than the Runcorn branch, they also had an assortment of ice creams to go with the buns. Ordering at the counter, we didn't get a number, but the waitress was able to deliver our food based on memory alone, which was impressive.

Before long our late night feat arrived to much fanfare and adoration.

Drinks wise, Tomcat got the cold milk tea (I forgot to take a photo of this) whilst I had the hot one. Whilst erring on the sweet side, my tea was remarkably rich and smooth! I really liked it but wish they could have a less sweet option.

Our first shared bun came drizzled with strawberry sauce, and had a side of coffee ice cream. The bun was deliciously toasty with a crunchy exterior and a soft fluffy interior. The strawberry sauce, as expected was quite artificial though, but the coffee ice cream was remarkably smooth and fragrant.

Our second bun was topped with chocolate sauce and flanked by matcha and chocolate ice cream. The chocolate topping was again more sweet than it was chocolatey, but the bun was amazing. Like the coffee ice cream, both matcha and chocolate were rich in taste without an overwhelming sweetness.
