Last morning in Perth and I thought that we'd get a filling brekky before the long flight home. Stopped at Gusto Food on our way to the airport, especially love the early mornings at Perth where traffic is sparse and parking is exceedingly easy.
The cafe wasn't too large, but we found seating inside at one of the few remaining tables.
The breakfast menu was comparable to the other places I've had in Perth, noting a few differences such as the beef cheek toast and coconut pudding. Having said that, with yesterday's breakfast in mind, we stuck to what we knew and loved.
Coffees came out very quickly and were generous in size.
Our usuals were executed very well. Strong and full bodied, they were the perfect farewell from Perth (for now) and kept us awake on our flight home.
As fast as our drinks came out, our food came after just one sip of coffee. I love fast service, and this was amazing.
It's pretty much predictable by now, but Iron Fist ordered the Cheesy Scrambled Eggs, containing goats cheese, grilled Italian sausage, basil and pine nut pesto, tomato and crushed quinoa with ciabatta toast. The portion was very generous. Eggs were well scrambled and smooth, quinoa was a nice addition that gave it some texture. Iron Fist loves pesto and he found this to be delicious. Sausage comprised of two cut pieces, a little less than expected, but there was much of everything else that this didn't matter too much. He doesn't like tomato, so of course I ate this and liked the charred exterior.
Predictable me ordered eggs on toast with a side of salmon and avocado. It was executed to a fairly standard quality. Eggs were done well with a runny yolk, topped with cracked pepper. Salmon came in a cup which was interesting, topped with greens and lemon. I found this a little distracting and would definitely have rathered more salmon instead. Avocado was a little unripe and hard to force out of the skin, let alone spread on my toast.
