Even though I had planned my trip mostly around Asian food in Melbourne, let it never be said that I am an unaccommodating girlfriend, so when Adam said that his burger cravings had hit, I acquiesced and took a detour to South Yarra to visit his friend Chef Stewy who used to be head chef at Chur Burger.
Seeing the neon sign with what was probably Adam's life motto, I understood why we had to come here.
I liked the menu. For a burger joint, all you need are the classics, and this is what they had.
We ordered at the counter, got a number and found a window seat inside.
With our abundance of eating on this trip, we shared a burger and loaded fries for our lunch.
The loaded fried we got were the Chookie Chips, topped with grilled chicken, grated cheese, chipotle mayo and jalapenos. Chips were thick cut and retained its crunch under the pile of melty cheese. Jalapenos added a mild spice to the mountain of comfort food which was quite enjoyable.
As a rule, the perfect patty to bun ratio is always 2:1, so we had the Big McSam with added bacon to share. The bun was toasty and warm, patties retained a pink hue and were definitely meaty whilst bacon gave it a smokey touch. Only thing that was could have made this better was some tomato.
